Your Learning Team

Oak Creek Academy blends the benefits of a brick and mortar classroom with the individualization and flexibility of an online education experience. Students enjoy one-on-one contact with faculty, higher education counseling, personalized assignment feedback, virtual clubs and school events, and—most importantly—our commitment to providing attention to the learning style of each and every student.

We appreciate that learning is cooperative undertaking; a strong scholastic performance hinges on a robust and flexible support system. Your learning team is not only a student and a teacher; it’s also built of parents, our experienced counselors, and passionate subject matter experts. Each family is part of the partnership, and strong communication forms the basis of a fruitful learning experience. Students come away from a collaborative approach to a quality curriculum self-assured and eager to learn.

Our Teachers

Oak Creek Academy teachers understand that learning is far more than the exchange of instruction and assignment. Passionate about education and collaborative learning, our carefully selected faculty’s approach to teaching begins with each student’s goals, gifts, needs, interests, and learning style.

Our extraordinary teachers are dedicated to providing both one-on-one emotional and academic support to their students’ quest in developing into confident, self-directed adults. Through regular consultation and individualized feedback, Oak Creek Academy’s faculty teaches the way a student learns best.

School Counselors

A vital member of the learning team, Oak Creek Academy counsellors support the personal, social, and learning development needs of each student. Individualized academic plans are appraised to ensure alignment with academic goals. The learning experience is enhanced through guided career discovery and personal resource direction.

Student Services

The Student Services Department provides each family with personal assistance and guidance throughout the onboarding process.

During Orientation, Student Services familiarizes families with our educational philosophy, answers questions, and provides thorough training for the Oak Creek Academy learning management system. Since students perform better when families are involved, they are encouraged to connect with Student Services in a variety of formats, including virtual office hours, email, and phone.

As the year progresses, Student Services proactively identifies and contacts students who are frustrated by time management or may not be progressing academically. Since Oak Creek Academy is focused on student success, the team offers guidance and support with scheduling assistance, assignment expansion, and facilitation of course extensions.

Parent’s Role

At Oak Creek Academy, parents are a vital part of the learning team by serving as their child’s academic coach. By reinforcing healthy structure and organization, they create continuity throughout the academic process. In addition, by working closely with our faculty, they strengthen their child’s relationship with their learning environment. Parents facilitate their child’s individual learning plan, advocating for their child’s development and providing a trusted companion as their student navigates scholastic exploration and advancement.

Simply through their reassuring presence, parents provide a necessary component to their child’s academic success. Constant communication with the rest of the learning team, indicating interest in your student’s work, and voicing encouragement as only you can all increase your child’s chances of achieving their learning goals. Other ways to interact as your child’s academic coach include seeking out enrichment materials, suggesting new ways to approach concepts, discovering reading material together, reviewing written assignments, and fostering planning techniques.

Lower School

Parents play a formative role in partnership with our teachers throughout the elementary school phase. Delivering the curriculum and education plan in a nurturing, personal format is the goal for the entire learning team. Discovering and working with the student’s learning style and fostering scheduling skills are in special focus at this age.

Middle School

Parents begin to transition from a formative to supervisory role as students shift to the middle school phase. Continuing to team with their child’s teachers, parents continue to emphasize the development of time management skills and encourage the completion of more complex assignments. Academic schedules expand to include not only elective classes, but extracurricular activities and increased coursework.

Upper School

Now their child’s academic coachand mentor, parents’ roles modify to a supervisory function. In the upper school stage, parents rely on our interactive grade book to track their child’s progress. Staff and faculty continue to communicate with both parent and child through email and phone.

Lower School

Oak Creek Academy recommends the following homework guidelines for our lower school students:

Kindergarten- 3rd Grade: At least one to two hours a day
4th Grade-5th Grade: At least two to four hours a day

While students progress through coursework at their own pace, the role of the parent at the lower school age is indispensable. The design of our education model is competency based, and our faculty provides assistance with concepts and specific assignment completion. Every student is expected to exhibit mastery of age-appropriate skills.

Middle School

Once students have progressed to their middle school years at Oak Creek Academy, their responsibility role for their individual learning plan increases. Students are encouraged to become more self-reliant investigate their scholastic and extracurricular interests. Middle school students are permitted to participate in virtual clubs, as well as Oak Creek Academy’s private social network.  Our middle school students emerge from their middle school years confident and ready for the increased challenges of the teenage years.

Upper School

Oak Creek Academy students, at this stage, now manage their academic careers with their parents acting as coaches and teachers becoming facilitators. Upper school students focus on refining time management and individual study skills. While working in increased collaboration with their peers, the begin to fully rely up on themselves as scholars. As they prepare for college,  upper school students usually dedicated between four to five hours a day on club activities and class assignments or preparation.

Asynchronous Delivery

Instruction an Oak Creek Academy is provided via asynchronous courses; while assignment completion is expected, students access them on their own schedule. Our interactive gradebook is always available, providing instantaneous review of a student’s academic records, including tests and quizzes. This flexibility encourages students to develop their own interests and extracurricular plans.

Through a dedicated learning team, collaborative support, individualization, and design flexibility, Oak Creek Academy honors the development, abilities, and talents of all our students. We provide a personalized but rigorous college preparatory education.
